When I moved to Putney I was delighted to discover
St Mary’s Church—where Oliver Cromwell came to debate
with the Levellers in 1647, and therefore the birthplace
of a movement for social justice which even in times
of retrenchment like now, refuses to go away.
I no longer live in Putney, but ironically, in Windsor. However, my allegiances remain with the Levellers.
